ONCE A MONTH. EVERY MONTH.
P.S. CHECK YOUR BOOBS.
Two minutes. No technique needed. Get to know what's normal for you, so you notice when something isn't. This goes for everyone, whatever you call them.
-
LOOK
In the mirror, arms down, then up. Any change in size, shape or skin? Dimpling, puckering, redness, a rash, or a nipple that's changed or turned in?
-
FEEL
Use the flat of your fingers. Cover the whole area, up to the collarbone and into the armpit. In the shower or lying down, whatever's easiest. You're feeling for anything new or different.
-
REPEAT
Same time every month, so you learn what's normal for you. If you have periods, a few days after works best. Set the reminder below and let it nag you.
WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR
- A lump, or an area that feels thicker than the rest
- A change in size or shape, or one side changing
- Dimpling, puckering or redness of the skin
- A nipple that has turned in, changed position or shape
- Discharge, or a rash / crusting around the nipple
- Swelling in the armpit or around the collarbone
- Constant pain in the breast or armpit
Most changes aren't cancer, but every change is worth a GP appointment. Don't wait for it to go away. Don't feel silly. Go.
SET THE REMINDER. ACTUALLY DO IT.
One tap adds a monthly P.P.S. reminder to your calendar: the 3rd of every month, 7pm.
